Honda Brake Pedal Recall 2025: What You Need to Know

Honda has issued a brake pedal recall affecting over 259,000 vehicles—including 2021–2025 Acura TLX, 2023–2025 Acura MDX, and 2023–2025 Honda Pilot models—after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) determined a brake pedal pivot pin may shift out of position, compromising braking performance.

What’s the Issue?

During assembly at a now-closed U.S. supplier plant, the pivot pin holding the brake pedal was not securely staked. This can result in:

  • Abnormal pedal movement or feel while braking

  • The brake malfunction warning light remaining on

  • In rare cases, reduced braking ability or increased stopping distance

Though only about?1?percent of affected vehicles show the defect, the safety risk is considered significant. A few warranty claims have already been reported.

What Honda Is Doing

  • Dealer notifications began on June 13, 2025

  • Owner notification letters are scheduled to mail starting July 28, 2025

  • Owners can schedule a free inspection and brake pedal assembly replacement at authorized Honda and Acura dealers

  • Customers who previously paid for the repair may qualify for reimbursement
